Saudi Arabia Visa Information

Please note that visa forms MUST be filled out completely in order for the application to be processed in a timely manner. Don't forget to include the following information on the form:

  • The applicant's name exactly as it is listed on the passport
  • Expiration date of the passport
  • Date and place of issuance of the passport

Passports or documents can be dropped off at the Consulate of Houston between 9:30am and 12:30pm weekdays. Pick ups are between 3:30 and 4:30 weekdays. Please note that this schedule can change without notice.

We would like to bring to the attention of all applicants who send their passports by mail that anyone who includes a RETURN Federal Express, DHL, Airborne Express, UPS or any other airway bill, should also include a MONEY ORDER made out to that company.

No cash, credit card or personal check will be accepted.

Any package without such payment will be on hold until the payment is received. It is the responsibility of the applicant to include the EXACT amount according to the weight of the package.

Business Visa Requirements

Business visas are issued to: businessmen, investors, representatives of U.S. companies, managers, sales managers, sales representatives, etc.

Requirements:

  • A passport valid for at least six (6) months, with at least two (2) clear visa pages adjacent to each other.
  • One (1) recent passport size color photograph with a white background; the photograph must be a full-face view in which the visa applicant is facing the camera directly. Side or angled views are NOT accepted.
  • A completed application form filled in with a black ink pen or printed. Application forms can be downloaded from the websitehttp://saudiembassy.net. Please include your email address on the application.
  • One of the following documents to prove the applicant’s position:
    • A letter addressed to the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Washington, D.C. by the applicant’s employer in the U.S., which confirms the applicant’s position and that he is being sent on a business visit related to his company.
    • A copy of the company’s business registration.
    • An electronic invitation letter from a Saudi company.
    • A diplomatic note from the applicant’s embassy in the U.S. identifying his/her title (for non-Americans).
    • Additional documents may be requested if needed.
  • For non-U.S. citizens, a copy of the green card or a document confirming legal residence in the U.S.
  • A money order or cashier’s check for the amount of one hundred and eight U.S. dollars ($108.00) for U.S. passport holders, for both single and multiple entries. For non-U.S. citizens, the visa fee is fifty-four U.S. dollars ($54.00) for a single entry and one hundred and thirty-four U.S. dollars ($134.00) for multiple entries. Cash and personal checks are not accepted.

Diplomatic and Official Visa

Requirements:

  • Passport should have a validity of at least six (6) months.
  • One recent passport size color photograph with a white background. Photograph(s) must be full-face view in which the applicant is facing the camera directly. Side or angled views are NOT accepted.
  • A complete application form filled-out with black ink or printed. Application forms may be downloaded from our websitewww.saudiembassy.net. Write e-mail address on the application.
  • A cover letter from the U.S. Department of State or the concerned Embassy specifying the applicant’s name, title, position, purpose and length of trip and the number of entries requested.
  • Copy of itinerary with detailed flight information at the time of entering and exiting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Notice:

  • Visitors should not overstay the time granted by the visa. Employment Visa

Requirements:

  • A passport valid for at least six (6) months, with at least two (2) clear visa pages adjacent to each other.
  • One (1) recent passport size color photograph with a white background; the photograph must be a full-face view in which the visa applicant is facing the camera directly. Side or angled views are NOT accepted.
  • A completed application form filled in with black ink pen or printed. Application forms can be downloaded from the website (www.saudiembassy.net). Please include your email address on the application, if available.
  • A reference note showing the number and date of the residence visa issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or its branches in Jeddah or Dammam.
  • The original letter from the company in Saudi Arabia sponsoring the applicant, certified both by a Saudi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This letter MUST indicate the block visa number and date as well as the position and name of the person requested.
    If this letter is being submitted through a visa service agency, then attached to the letter should be an authorization from the company allowing the agency to finalize all the requirements to obtain the visa, block visa number and date.
  • A certified and notarized copy of the applicant's university degree or diploma, which MUST be validated by the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission in Washington DC (telephone 202-337-9450 or 202-298-8849).
    For training or technical diplomas, certified and notarized copies MUST additionally be validated by the U.S. Department of State.
    Degrees and diplomas need to be notarized by the Saudi Consulate: the fee is U.S. $8.00 (eight dollars) per page, payable to 'The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia'. Cash and personal checks are not accepted.
    Diplomas issued by an institution outside the U.S. should show the signature and the seal of the issuing country’s Consulate.
  • A copy of the employment contract signed by both the sponsor and the applicant. The position mentioned in the contract should match the position mentioned in the block visa reference, as should the academic degree the applicant holds and its major.
  • A release letter from the previous employer, if the applicant has worked in the Kingdom before. This applies only if the last employment in the Kingdom ended within the last three (3) years.
  • Three (3) copies of our medical report, along with three (3) passport size color pictures with a white background.
    This medical report must be issued by a licensed physician who must sign each copy and must certify that the applicant is free of any contagious disease. The license number and address of the physician should appear on each copy. Medical reports should be used within three (3) months from the date of issuance.

  • A recent police report, with detailed information about applicant’s criminal record, if any.
  • A money order or cashier’s check in the amount of U.S. $14 (fourteen dollars) payable to 'The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia'.Cash and personal checks are not accepted.

  •  The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident or holder of a valid residence visa in the United States of America (e.g. student visa, H1).

Exit / Re-Entry Visa

The Consulate does not have the authority to extend an exit re-entry visa if the applicant’s stay outside the Kingdom exceeds seven (7) months or, for students, twelve (12) months. The duration of the visa is estimated from the first exit of the applicant from the Kingdom after issuance of the visa.

Requirements:

  • A passport valid for at least six (6) months, with at least two (2) empty visa pages adjacent to each other.
  • One recent passport-size color photograph with a white background. The photograph must be full-face view in which the applicant is facing the camera directly. Side or angled views are NOT accepted.
  • An completed application form filled in with black ink pen or printed. Application forms can be downloaded from our website,www.saudiembassy.net. Please write your email address on the application if available.
  • A copy of the family registration, which is a printout that can be obtained from the office of the Directorate General of Passports in the city in the Kingdom in which the applicant resides. This should include complete information on the applicant.
  • A letter from the Saudi sponsor to our Consulate requesting the extension of the re-entry visa. This letter needs to be notarized by a Saudi Chamber of Commerce if the sponsor works for the private sector; or by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs if the sponsor works for a government agency.
  • Spouses and children of the person working in the Kingdom should include a letter from such person sent to our Consulate requesting an extension to their exit/re-entry visas. This letter needs to be notarized by a Saudi Chamber of Commerce if the sponsor works for the private sector; or by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs if the sponsor works for a government agency.
    Students should not reside outside the Kingdom for more than twelve (12) months from the date of their first departure using the current exit/re-entry visa.
    A student must submit proof of current enrollment in school along with a notarized letter from the guardian who is a resident in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • A copy of a valid residence permit along with a copy of the last extension if applicable; this must be provided before the extension is granted.

Family Visit Visa

Family visit visas do not grant the applicant the right to work or reside in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Requirements:

  • A passport valid for at least six months, with at least two (2) clear visa pages adjacent to each other. The passport must be acceptable to enter both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the applicant's next destination.
  • One (1) recent passport size color photograph with a white background; the photograph must be a full-face view in which the visa applicant is facing the camera directly. Side or angled views are NOT accepted.
  • A completed application form filled in with black ink pen or printed. Application forms can be downloaded from the website (www.saudiembassy.net). Please include your email address on the application, if available.
  • Proof that the applicant is in possession of a non-refundable confirmed roundtrip ticket.
  • A reference note showing the number and the date of the visa issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or any of its branches in Jeddah or Dammam.
  • Proof of kinship: for spouses, a copy of the marriage certificate; for children, a copy of the birth certificate.
  • For non-U.S. citizens, a copy of the green card or documented proof of legal residence in the U.S.

  • One (1) recent passport size color photograph with a white background; the photograph must be a full-face view in which the visa applicant is facing the camera directly. Side or angled views are NOT accepted.
  • A completed application form filled out with black ink or printed. Application forms can be downloaded from our websitewww.saudiembassy.net. Please include your email address on the application, if available.
  • A reference note showing the number and the date of the student visa issued from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or its branches in Jeddah or Dammam.
  • Proof of kinship when accompanied by a family member: for spouses, a copy of the marriage certificate; for children, a copy of the birth certificate.
    The age of an accompanying male child should not exceed eighteen (18) years; an accompanying daughter should not be married.
  • For non-U.S. citizens, a copy of the green card or other documented proof of legal residence in the U.S.
  • Three (3) copies of our medical report, along with three (3) passport size color pictures with a white background.
    This medical report must be issued by a licensed physician who must sign each copy and certify that the applicant is free of any contagious disease.   • A reference note showing the number and the date of the student visa issued from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or its branches in Jeddah or Dammam.
  • The applicant’s original birth certificate plus one (1) copy of it.
  • The applicant’s original High School Diploma plus one (1) copy of it. The copy must be authenticated by the Saudi Cultural Mission (telephone 202-298 -8840 or 202-298-8849).
  • Three (3) copies of our medical report, along with three (3) passport size color pictures with a white background.
    This medical report must be issued by a licensed physician who must sign each copy and certify that the applicant is free of any contagious disease. The license number and address of the physician should appear on each copy. Medical reports must be used within three (3) months from the date of issuance.

Hajj Requirements: Visas for 1427 Hajj

The Consular Section of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Washington DC has the honor to inform all Pilgrims that it will start issuing Hajj visas, which are granted gratis, from Mid-Shawwal until 29th Dhu Al-Qudah of each year. Hajj visas are not valid for work or residency.

Each applicant for a Hajj visa must apply through a licensed U.S. travel agency, which must present the Consulate with copies of “Accommodation Contacts” and a letter of the Ministry of Hajj in Saudi Arabia confirming that the travel agency has duly completed all requirements to qualify to assist pilgrims.

Applications for Hajj visa will not be considered if the following requirements are not complete:

  • The applicant must have a passport with a validity of at least six (6) months and acceptable both for entry to Saudi Arabia and entry to the next destination; the passport should have at least two empty visa pages adjacent to each other.
  • Each applicant must submit one (1) recent passport size color photograph with a white background. The photograph must be a full-face view in which the visa applicant is facing the camera directly. Side or angled views are NOT accepted.
  • The applicant must submit a completed application form filled in with black ink pen or printed; the form must be signed and stamped by the authorized travel agency.
  • The Mahram should write his complete information on the application forms of his spouse and children or any relative with whom he is traveling. He should also provide copies of marriage or birth certificates; if these documents were issued outside the USA, he should then provide copies translated and notarized by a certified translation office.
  • All women are required to travel for Hajj with a Mahram. Proof of kinship must be submitted with the application form. Any lady over the age of forty-five (45) may travel without a Mahram with an organized group, provided she submits a letter of no objection from her husband, son or brother authorizing her to travel for Hajj with the named group. This letter should be notarized.
  • The applicant must be in possession of a non-refundable roundtrip ticket with confirmed reservations.
  • The applicant must submit proof of vaccination for meningitis and ACYW135. For infants and children up to fifteen (15) years of age, a vaccination report is required for polio as well as meningitis and polio. Children over fifteen (15) years of age should present the same vaccinations requested for adults.
  • Each pilgrim should submit two certified checks or cashier checks payable to 'Unified Agents Office' in Jeddah for pilgrimage services. These checks should include the name and the passport number of the pilgrim. Each applicant must pay the following fees:
    (a) US $158.40 (one hundred fifty-eight dollars & forty cents) for services rendered by the local Tawaf agencies and for housing at the Holy sites.
    (b) US $116.00 (one hundred sixteen dollars only) for air-conditioned transportation services.
    Pilgrims have the option to submit one check combining both fees: in this case, the amount would be US$ 274.40 (two hundred seventy-four dollars & forty cents).
    Children between the age of seven (7) and fifteen (15) should only pay half of the above-mentioned amount.
    Children under the age of seven (7) do not need to pay.
  • Non-U.S. citizens should submit a copy of their green card or documented proof of legal residence status in the USA. Passport authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reserve the right to return (at his or her own expense) any pilgrim who has provided wrong or false information about their residence in the USA.
  • No applicant under the legal age of eighteen (18) will be granted a Hajj visa if not accompanied by his family.
  • If the applicant has converted to Islam, an Islamic certificate must be presented; this needs to be notarized by an Islamic Center.

General Guidelines:

  • Travelers must carry vaccination certificates with them for inspection by the Saudi Authority at port of entry.
  • No food products are allowed into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • The last day to enter King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah for the purpose of Hajj is 4 Dhu Al-Hijjah of each year.
  • Upon arrival, pilgrims shall hand their passports to the custody of the Unified Agents Office’s representatives to enable the latter to complete all travel formalities to Makkah and Madinah.
  • In the event that pilgrims lose their passport, they should immediately report the loss to the same office appointed to take care of them during Hajj. Applicants must obtain a report from the office of the Unified Agents in which the loss of passport is mentioned.
  • All pilgrims must leave the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after Hajj no later than the 10th of Muharram of each year. The rules and regulations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia forbid any pilgrims from staying in the country after the completion of Hajj

Umrah Visas

The Saudi Consulate Office in Washington, DC has the honor to inform all Muslims Umrah visas will be issued each year from the beginning of the month of Safar to the beginning of the month of Ramadan. Visas will be issued through licensed companies and travel agencies. Please note that in order for visa applications to be accepted, the company or agency must have completed a licensing process with the Ministry of Hajj.

Umrah visas are provided free of charge.

Umrah visas do not give the right to work or reside in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

  • Any applicant visiting the USA and who has legally spent more than two (2) months in the country is allowed to apply for an Umrah visa through an authorized travel agency.
  • Non-U.S. citizens should submit a copy of their green card or documented proof of legal residence status in the USA. Passport authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reserve the right to return (at his or her own expense) any pilgrim who has provided wrong or false information about their residence in the USA.
  • No applicant under the legal age of eighteen (18) will be granted a Hajj visa if not accompanied by his family.
  • If the applicant has converted to Islam, an Islamic certificate must be presented; this needs to be notarized by an Islamic Center.

  • Passports will be returned if the information submitted is not compatible with the information sent electronically by theMinistry of Hajj. The Embassy reserves the right to inform the Ministry of Pilgrimage about travel agencies that submit inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Travel agencies should affix on each passport a sticker showing the agency’s name, address and telephone number.
  • The Ministry of Hajj will void Umrah visas if applicants do not submit applications within fifteen (15) days from the date of issuance of the visa.
  • Travel agencies are responsible for assuring that all Umrah pilgrims they send leave the Kingdom by the 15th of Shawwal.
  • In the case that a travel agency wishes to submit any question or complaints to the Ministry of Hajj, they may do so through the company or agency they deal with in Saudi Arabia or through the official routes in their country.
